The journal falls within the field of education and, specifically, the teaching and learning of English as a second, foreign, additional or international language (ESL, EFL, EAL, EIL).
It is an academic publication led by ASOCOPI, the Colombian Association of Teachers of English.

Publishing in HOW
HOW keeps a permanent open call. Cohorts close twice a year:
- April 1st — for the January–June issue.
- October 1st — for the July–December issue.
Submission templates, author guidelines and the reviewer evaluation forms are published on the journal's site. Manuscripts go through a double-blind peer review process.
